About Us
The Warehouse was opened in 1996 by local entrepreneur Paul Adams, who spotted a gap in the market for a sophisticated, modern restaurant in his home town.
The venue, located inside a converted warehouse, quickly became one of the most popular and acclaimed restaurants in the North West.
It is featured in the prestigious Good Food Guide and the Hardens listings. It has also been awarded the Bib Gourmand award in the Michelin Guide for eight years in succession and continues to collect AA Rosettes annually.
The Independent named the Brasserie as one of the 50 best gourmet restaurants in the country, stating it offers “fabulous food and friendly service.”
The man behind the food is chef director Marc Verite, who studied his craft locally at Southport College and has been working in the catering trade ever since. He honed his skills in Belgium and the Dordogne region of France before returning to Southport to take up residence at The Warehouse Brasserie.
The Brasserie’s experienced team of chefs have collected a number of respected awards. In 2002 the Brasserie’s Head chef, Darren Smith, scooped the ‘North West Young Chef of the Year’ title, the Best Young Chef in Merseyside award and was a finalist for the Gordon Ramsay Scholarship in 2005. The Best Young Chef in Merseyside title has also been awarded to various members of the team over the following years, Ben Whitley in 2003, Anthony Greenland in 2004 and Daniel Simpson in 2006.
The restaurant is a keen supporter of locally grown produce and ingredients and sources a wide selection of its fresh fruit and vegetables from farms in the Lancashire and Merseyside areas. These include asparagus grown in Formby, tomatoes and potatoes farmed in Banks and Scarisbrick, as well as the famous ‘Southport shrimps’.
In 2008, the Warehouse will be joined by a sister venue The Vincent a boutique hotel, in nearby Lord Street.
Michelin & AA Stars
In 2008, the Warehouse became the only establishment in Merseyside to be awarded a prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand.
The Bib Gourmand award was created in 1997 to indicate a restaurant offering good food at moderate prices.
The Warehouse also has two AA rosettes with the restaurant bible Hardens, branding it “the best restaurant in town”, thanks to its “innovative” cooking of “big-city standard”.
"Absolutely wonderful! The food was top notch as was the service! Will definitely be visiting again soon!"
